Slime Rancher Fanon Wikia

A historically overlooked and even disliked form of slime, often seen as pests. Their ability to somewhat replicate themselves through plorts and eject a tar-like substance (it being compared to tar so frequently earned this substance the name of Taitride) made them a hazard to just about any slime rancher on a planet that hosted these slimes; despite how dangerous they were the limited need for the pseudo-tar never made the plorts especially valuable. A chemical breakthrough however bumped up the value of these plorts considerably.

Slimepedia[]

Diet:[]

Carbon is a major aspect of the taitride and so these slimes have a considerable appetite; proving omnivorous.

Slimeology[]

These slimes are known for spending time in packs, coating areas in their goo in order to somewhat terraform the terrain; this habit has made them rather notorious for being willing to do so to a slime ranch if given the chance. Spitting out their tar-like substance is their main method of self-defence, in groups this can prove very effective.

A second well-known trait is their seeming inability to become a largo. Upon absorbing the plort of another slime, the Taitride Slime will grow to the size of an average largo however it will not bare traits of the slime that the plort was taken from. Shortly after, the slime will undergo mitosis; splitting its mass to create a second Taitride Slime. Despite this trait, a slime that obtains a Taitride Plort can become a largo, assuming traits from both "parents". The mitosis process cannot be done in rapid succession, during this time the slime will simply refuse the plort.

Rancher Risks[]

By default, the slimes will not persue a fight with a rancher although can be angered. If angered, Taitride Slimes will not hesitate to spit out slime at a rancher. The sticky substance is more than able to weigh a rancher down (stepping in the stuff will slow a rancher or other slime down too) can even prove toxic. A major danger involved with this substance however is how easily combustible taitride is, (albeit this diminishes with exposure to the air) and so cases of Ranchers being killed through exposure to fire whilst (at least) partially covered in taitride are not unheard of by any means.

It is encouraged to avoid letting these slimes get access to a large amount of plorts from other slimes as they can duplicate somewhat quickly.

Plortonomics[]

Whilst the plorts used to be liquidified (through a simple process) and used as a tar alternative, a recent chemistry development has discovered that the same substance can be turned into a very effective lubricant for machinery and other devices; making the plorts go from a value of 7.50 (10 factoring in inflation since that time) to 55.

Largos[]

The Taitride Slime cannot become a Largo but other slimes can become a largo using a Taitride Plort.

Synergies[]

Taitride/Shock Largo - The explosive and electric blasts of the Shock Slime are augmented with the ability to eject considerable amounts of Taitride to create a more fiery blast, a very dangerous fire hazard along with the EMP effect. This largo should be avoided if possible due to its dangerous capabilities.

Taitride/Boom Largo - This is largely comparable to the Taitride/Shock largo however in this case the largo prefers of spitting slime onto the target before detonating and potentially igniting their victim; a deadly yet effective tactic.

Interactions[]

Else/Taitride Largo - The diet and abilities of the Taitride Slime are passed to the Largo.

Appearance[]

A somewhat oily sheen coats the normally-sized slime. The outer-membrane is a jet-black colouration. Their eyes are strangely lilac/purple as is the inside of the mouth.
